Illumio unveils agentless breach containment

Breach containment provider Illumio has launched its agentless visibility and breach containment solution, Illumio Insights, designed for both data centre and cloud environments.

The product ingests real-time telemetry and policy data from CheckPoint and Fortinet firewalls, converts existing firewall information into real-time traffic maps and delivers agentless visibility across hybrid environments.

The agentless approach championed by Illumio aims to accelerate visibility and time to value by leveraging existing firewall infrastructure, eliminating the need to deploy agents, while claiming to deliver a faster, more flexible way to gain insight into hybrid traffic patterns.

The benefits for security teams includes unified visibility across cloud and on-prem environments, as well as accelerated zero trust adoption and faster time to value, according to Illumio.

“For decades, data centers were blind spots, and the default response was to deploy more agents," said Mario Espinoza, chief product officer at Illumio.

"While agents remain foundational for segmentation and enforcement, visibility shouldn’t have to wait."
