Epson Australia has released its first-ever Sustainability Impact Report, detailing the company's progress across Australia and New Zealand.
The report covers April 2023 to March 2024, and showcases several key achievements in the company's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives.
The technology firm said it achieved a complete transition to renewable electricity across all its Australian and New Zealand offices during the reporting period.
It also recorded a 50 per cent reduction in landfill waste at its main sites.
"Epson's purpose is to enrich lives and create a better world by delivering value through innovations that are efficient, compact and precise," Craig Heckenberg, managing director of Epson Australia and New Zealand said.
"We are sharing our inaugural Impact Report as a reflection of our commitment to sustainability and transparency," Fatida Un, environment and sustainability manager at Epson Australia said.
The company established new partnerships to strengthen its community impact, collaborating with the Botanic Gardens of Sydney, First Nations Fashion + Design, and the Australian Fashion Council.
In a significant move toward climate action, Epson Australia began measuring and reporting its carbon emissions. The company aligned these efforts with Epson's global Science-Based Targets Initiative goals, working toward carbon negativity by 2050.
"While we acknowledge that we don't have all the answers yet, this Impact Report is a significant step forward and particularly important as we openly highlight both our progress and the challenges we face," said Heckenberg.
The report builds upon Epson's global sustainability work, which emphasises energy-saving solutions and space-saving innovation to protect the natural environment.
The company maintained its commitment to the circular economy through established recycling programmes for ink cartridges and e-waste.
