Coles taps SAP for ERP install

Coles Group has rolled out a number of SAP implementations in a deal the CRM/ERP vendor touts as driving Coles’ "digital core".

SAP S/4HANA, SAP Ariba and SAP SuccessFactors will be rolled into the supermarket giant’s procurement, HR and business processes. The vendor announced the install would allow Coles to “gain new insights, streamline and automate its HR and procurement processes and make life increasingly easy for its customers and team members”.

“Investing in its people, processes and supply chain, Coles is putting a focus on simplifying the experience for its people and customers,” SAP ANZ managing director Damien Bueno said.

“The retail industry is focused on continuous innovation and anticipating customer needs. To be successful in this era of change and build for a digital future, it is critical to get your digital business framework right. I look forward to seeing this long-term and strategic partnership with Coles grow as it innovates the experience for its people, suppliers, partners and customers.”

Implementation is due to commence this month, though Coles and SAP have not revealed who the implementation partners will be. The size of the investment was not revealed.

“Making life easier for our customers and team members is a key focus for Coles,” Coles chief information officer Roger Sniezek said. “This partnership with SAP will allow us to innovate more with both groups to ensure we are as efficient as possible across our retail environment.”

SAP’s S/4HANA product is the vendor’s flagship on-premises enterprise resource planning solution, SAP Ariba software is geared towards procurement and supply chain spending management, while SAP SuccessFactors is human resources software for talent management and recruitment.
