Peter Croft, managing director for Clearswift Asia Pacific, told CRN that the new partnership with Sunbelt Software will allow counter spy technology to be integrated within the MIMEsweeper Web Appliance to provide anti-spyware security and detection.
“The Sunbelt product is built into the web appliance version 1.2.1 and is already available for new purchases and as a version upgrade for supported customers. [Resellers] can expect up to 30 percent [margins] on the Web appliance - depending on what level of reseller. In addition, we offer up to an extra 10 percent for resellers to register deals,” said Croft.
He claimed Sunbelt Software’s threat intelligence systems, ThreatNet and Threat Track, collect and analyse data on malware, including spyware. New spyware files and sites are checked for false positives before updating them to the MIMEsweeper Web Appliance’s spyware signature database and its malicious URL and IP address data.
Croft said the security benefits of combining Sunbelt Software’s anti-spyware with Clearswift’s MIMEsweeper technology includes “Call home” detection – where spyware already present on users’ machines is blocked from contacting its ‘home’ server and disclosing information as well as being reported and administrators alerted at regular intervals.
He added that the Sunbelt Software engine distinguishes spyware items from non-malicious traffic, producing detailed and reliable scan results for all inbound and outbound traffic. The product also features continuous and automatic definition/signature updates ensure comprehensive detection and reporting for removal of threats, while also stopping users going to known spyware sites.
“End users, from SMBs to large enterprise with an interest in stopping inbound threats and protect corporate information from leaking out,” he said.
