Bitglass, a vendor in the emerging cloud access security broker (CASB) space, has appointed former Palo Alto Networks head of channels Brendon Thwaites as director of channels and alliances for Asia Pacific & Japan.
According to Bitglass, Australia and New Zealand will be the initial focus for Thwaites, who will bring marketing and sales tools, deal registration, and training for resellers, integrators and technology partners.
Thwaites spent six years at Palo Alto, where he held a range of management positions, including head of channels, director of distribution and also acting country manager.
He also held a channel role at F5 Networks, and used to work at ITX, which was acquired by Avnet – whose Technology Solutions business is now part of Tech Data.
Thwaites is joined at Bitglass by Wayne Phillips, who has come onboard as head of systems engineering for ANZ.
Phillips is based in Sydney and will lead the company’s pre-sales effort, responsible for designing cloud security solutions and providing technical support for customer deployments of Bitglass CASB technology.
Dave Shephard, Bitglass vice president APAC, said: "We are delighted to welcome Brendon and Wayne to the team. Already, we’re experiencing strong demand for our technology and the channel is going to be key to how we scale the business.
"Both Brendon and Wayne are skilled individuals with a passion for hard work and a track record of successfully developing and supporting channel partners and end user organisations. I’m excited about what 2018 holds in store for our channel partners and for our company in Australia and New Zealand.”
