Sydney-based BEarena has completed a Nutanix deployment with luxury hotel and serviced apartment operator Frasers Hospitality Australia, deploying the hyperconverged infrastructure vendor across four properties.
“I spoke with Nutanix at a conference about our pain points and the possibilities to free up resources to focus on our core activities,” Frasers IT manager Howard Phung said.
“I became convinced that Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure was the foundation of building an enterprise cloud capable of providing the agility of the public cloud with the control and security of on-prem infrastructure.”
Phung said it was clear to Frasers that its legacy infrastructure — with its separate storage, networks and servers — would not be able to keep up with its current business needs.
BEarena managing director Darren Ashley told CRN Frasers was willing enough to take on something new and was very receptive and understanding on what BEarena and Nutanix had on offer.
“What we tend to find is that many customers would usually not have enough exposure on the technology, Ashley said. “It’s always nice to have customers who are open to change and we felt that Frasers was a good technical fit for us.”
Phung said the deployment freed up IT resources, and reduced management and running costs, while also improving performance in applications used for customers checking in and out of the hotels.
“The entire process was a combination of two dedicated parties focusing on both short-term and long-term goals. We need an agile data centre that easily scales with and lets us grow as a business,” Phung said.
“Now my team can focus on core activities, which not only saves us time and money but also led us to be able to serve our guests better.”
Singapore-headquartered Frasers Hospitality has more than 140 properties across 77 cities, with properties in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
