Avnet has unveiled a new partnership with CloudPhysics, a US-based vendor that analyses VMware vSphere environments to "identify hot spots before they ignite".
The distributor, which already represents VMware in Australia, will now provide CloudPhysics’ software-as-a-service analytics solution to the Australian channel. It is claimed that CloudPhysics’ Observer SaaS tool takes just 15 minutes to install.
Partners will be able to use CloudPhysics’ big data analytics platform to conduct IT health checks and identify opportunities around migration to the cloud or infrastructure refreshes. That should create opportunity to increase revenue and influence purchasing, according to Avnet.
The partnership ties in with Avnet’s new solutions specialist strategy, which involves focusing on high-growth technologies such as cloud, cognitive computing, data analytics, the data center, the internet of things, mobility, security and enterprise networking.
Winston Wong, Avnet Technology Solutions’ director of cloud and strategic growth, said partners will be able to help their customers gain important insights into their vSphere environments.
“With ‘cloud first’ as the strategic direction of most C-level customers today, collectively we will drive scale and profitability for our partners and accelerate cloud transformation decisions, from months to minutes,” he said.
“In our experience, sometimes cloud is the answer and other times it is not. Therefore, this new partnership brings a whole new market opportunity for VMware, our major suppliers and public cloud partners.”
CloudPhysics’ vice-president of worldwide sales and alliances, Richard Sexton, also welcomed the partnership.
“The ability to deliver accurate insights of current infrastructure performance, optimise and then simulate cloud vendor offerings enables customers and partners to engage faster and more accurately to align on the right transformational infrastructure decisions,” Sexton said.
