YourDC opened up South Australia's first tier-three data centre yesterday in Adelaide
The $30 million facility spans 600 square metres in the Northern Adelaide suburb of Edinburgh Parks
The facility houses 800 racks with three petabytes capacity each. Two hundred racks will be ready to go at launch
Telstra, Optus, NextGen, Amcom, TPG, iFibred and SABRENet/AARNET are already offering connections through the facility or will be soon
The facility is powered by four 2MW transformers and has its own power generator to prevent outages
YourDC said it will pump $1 billion of cloud and data services into the South Australian economy, along with 70 new jobs
The company was co-founded by tech entrepreneur Greg Siegele and former Adam Internet managing director Scott Hicks
Hicks said that YourDC has already signed up more than 20 customers, including an unnamed “international defence giant” and a city council
