What PC brands and attached services do you specialise in?
Lenovo, HP, Toshiba, Dell, IBM, Pure Storage, Palo Alto, Barracuda and Cisco.
When did your company first get involved in this area?
Approximately 35 years ago.
What are your PC credentials?
We are certified in numerous technologies with multiple hardware vendors. Southern Cross can assist customers with security audits, cloud strategy and migrations, virtualisation and infrastructure refreshes, or even just managing their environment to free up to pursue the never-ending list of projects.
Have you heard of any cool or interesting developments in the PC space recently?
The new enterprise tablets and Lenovo Yoga devices, and even some of the new Windows phones, are powerful enough to use as basic personal computers.
Can you tell us about a recent PC deployment you have done?
Delivering 8,500 devices to government department offices in regional Victoria over eight months, from end to end project management testing, imaging, logistics and installation. We then undertook collection, data destruction and recycling of the e-waste.
What is driving customers’ computer and device investments?
No further support for Windows XP.
Personal computers are…
Still an economic and viable option. However, laptops as standard devices are almost lineball with personal computers now. Customers are starting to see a better return on investment on an all-notebook fleet due to savings in power consumption and desk space coupled with the added productivity of a mobile device.
