ASG Group has been awarded a $29 million contract to provide desktop-as-a-service to the Department of Finance.
The seasoned government ICT provider will deliver a state-of-the-art electronic work environment for the next four years, which includes giving government staff the flexibility to access their data and applications securely from any device.
The desktop-as-a-service solution encompasses Windows 10 desktops, enterprise mobility, wireless, email, unified communications, enterprise voice and collaboration services.
In a statement to the ASX, the company said the innovative approach would give department employees the freedom to perform their work remotely at any time.
It added that ASG’s ‘as-a-service’ solution aims to reduce the financial, operating and human capital previously associated with owning technology-based assets.
ASG chief executive Geoff Lewis said: “This solution enhances productivity and efficiency by unlocking staff from the traditional workplace and providing a secure environment that follows them everywhere.”
ASG general manager for federal government Wayne Gowland said: “This deal further cements ASG’s foothold in the federal government market, building on the recent successes with Department of Communications, Australian Transport and Safety Bureau, Australian Maritime Safety Authority and Department of Defence.”
