HP has appointed Kaaren Lewis as general manager, Channels & Indirect, following the departure of Chris Spence, who was general manager, Channel South Pacific, Enterprise Group.
Spence has joined leading HP distributor Dicker Data, in an unknown capacity. Dicker Data confirmed Spence's appointment but would not comment further.
The distributor yesterday closed its acquisition of rival distie Express Data.
CRN spoke to Kaaren Lewis last week during the HP Global Partner Conference in Las Vegas, where she confirmed Spence's departure and said she would be replacing him.
Lewis said she was enthusiastic about the HP role, especially with the changes to the PartnerOne program announced at the conference.
"I am very excited here at GPC, hearing about the unparalleled investment that HP is making into partners. For me, it really drives home the message of how partner-centric that HP is."
Lewis brings vendor experience as the former general manager, Software, Asia Pacific & Japan at Dell, as well as reseller-side credentials.
According to HP, "Kaaren ran the ANZ operation for Insight, a software reseller, so she brings first-hand experience and understanding of what it takes to run a reseller business."
Lewis reports into Alan Hyde, vice president and general manager, Enterprise Group, HP South Pacific, while Margrith Appleby is her counterpart in the Printing and Personal Systems Group, according to HP.
