Console server operator Opengear is gearing up to finalise shipments of its SD4000 series device servers to ASX-listed gaming (gambling machine) corporation Tatts Group.
The servers are due to be rolled out by February next year.
Tony Merenda, CTO and VP of International business at Opengear told CRN that under the contract, Tatts Group has purchased 12,000 Opengear SD4000 series device servers (pictured) for its subsidiary, MaxGaming.
The devices are used for secure remote control, monitoring and data acquisition on electronic gaming machines in the UK and in Australia.
"Opengear's products will ultimately allow Tatts Group to make decisions about the profitability of games, machines and gaming venues and provide secure auditing to back this up," said Merenda.
MaxGaming has also used the SD4000 device servers to communicate with MaxGaming monitoring system software to provide statistics on wins, turnover, jackpots, loyalty cards, cashbox, credit and games played; and provide process automation and detailed auditing.
Darryl Green, technical specialist of gaming technology at MaxGaming said it took the company two years to research and choose Opengear's product.
"The devices provided its engineers with a customisable open source-based architecture, with OpenSSL connections," he said.
Opengear's founders have been involved with divisions of Tatt's Group (Unitab and MaxGaming) since 1990.
