Network attached storage appliance vendor Synology has launched two new DiskStation models, the DS1825+ and DS1525+, targeting SMBs and professional users.
The new models, available worldwide from this week, feature performance enhancements and scalability options to address evolving data management requirements.
Both systems come equipped with dual 2.5 gigabit Ethenet network ports as standard, with different upgrade paths to higher-speed connectivity.
The DS1525+ can be upgraded to 10 GbE via an optional E10G22-T1-Mini module, while the DS1825+ features a PCIe 3.0 slot supporting 10GBASE-T or 10/25 GbE SFP+/SFP28 network cards.
Performance-wise, Synology said the DS1825+ delivering Server Message Block (SMB) sequential speeds of up to 2239 megabytes per second (MB/s) read and 1573 MB/s write using solid-state drives (SSDs).
The DS1525+ meanwhile achieves up to 1181 MB/s read and 1180 MB/s write in similar conditions.
Both models include two M.2 slots for creating an all-flash cache or storage pool for high-performance workloads, enhancing overall system responsiveness for demanding applications.
Scalability is a key feature of the new systems, with each supporting up to two five-bay DX525 expansion units.
This allows the DS1525+ to provide up to 300 terabytes of raw storage with 15 drives when fully expanded, while the DS1825+ can reach up to 360 TB with 18 drives.
The systems run on Synology's DiskStation Manager (DSM) operating system, which offers a suite of business applications.
These include Synology Drive for private cloud file sharing and site-to-site synchronisation, Active Backup Suite for protecting Windows, Linux, and macOS devices, and Surveillance Station for video management with real-time analytics.
"These two models offer a powerful foundation for data management and collaboration," Owen Liao, Synology product manager said.
