Melbourne-based integrator Southern Cross has begun a two-year managed services contract for the Public Record Office Victoria, the archival authority responsible for State Government records.
Southern Cross last year won the public tender for back-end support of the agency’s digital archival systems and disaster recovery data centre facilities.
Steven-Meyer Cohen, general manager of managed services at Southern Cross told CRN that the contract was for the agency's “major system”.
“[It includes] all their business systems and applications,” he said.
The project involved Sun servers, Microsoft Windows Servers, Linux, Oracle, EMC storage, EMC content management system Documentum and VMware technology.
Southern Cross would host the manage service from its network operation centre in Hawthorn East. Further, a disaster recovery service was hosted from another undisclosed data centre.
"Open communication and detailed planning between PROV and our subject matter experts ensured trouble free transition,” Cohen added.
The value of the deal was not disclosed. It could be extended for an additional year.
