The deal means that Ingram Micro will provide Siemens with national distribution and boost its retail presence across Australia, as it enters into the broadband networking market.
Siemens SHC manufactures cordless telephones, Voice over IP (VoIP) handsets and broadband internet devices for the home and office.
Thanks to the partnership, Siemens SHC plans to increase its market share over the next 12 months, with broadband devices and networking in mind.
Mark Franklin director of comms Ingram Micro is delighted that the two companies have joined together citing Siemens as a leading brand name.
“Bringing Siemens who are a world leader in technology and VoIP and being German in origin and manufacturing, selling their products through Ingram Micro has provided us with a leading brand name from Europe,” he said.
“The home is becoming full of wireless products; photo frames, phones, play stations, PCs and laptops. It’s all going to come through one central hub and that is where Siemens has taken the high ground in Europe.
"It’s a great offering for resellers and end users and retailers,” Franklin added.
According to Dean Verberne, CEO of Siemens SHC, A/NZ, the Australian market is an important part of the Gigaset growth strategy, especially as Siemens has a number of new product releases in 2009.
“As the world’s largest technology distributor we were naturally attracted to Ingram Micro, but have been also pleased to find excellent synergies between our businesses - from a quality and innovation perspective in particular,” said Verberne.
“Consumers are starting to demand convergent technologies that give them the ability to manage and power these devices all through one box without any messy cables,” he added.
Siemens Home and Office’s products are currently available in Harvey Norman, Myer and JB Hi-Fi with its retail presence set to expand.
