Lenovo managing director Phil Cameron has announced he will leave the Chinese PC vendor.
CRN understands Cameron has taken a role with another IT vendor, but is not yet willing to reveal where.
Cameron has held channel and sales management rolls with both Toshiba and IBM during the rise of the notebook computer.
During his two-decades of work with Toshiba, Cameron opened the company's Queensland office, ran the company's channel sales organisation, its New South Wales operation, and was eventually promoted to national sales manager.
He then led IBM's PC channel sales from 2001 to 2005, before Lenovo acquired the IBM PC business. He stayed on with Lenovo as Sales Director, eventually being promoted to top dog early last year.
Cameron is credited for securing some massive deals - including a $150 million contract to provide the NSW Department of Education and Training with 240,000 netbooks.
Munro returns
Lenovo has recalled its former general manager Allan Munro back from Europe to replace Cameron.
Cameron leaves at the end of September, Munro returns on October 12.
Munro was most recently vice president of global accounts for Lenovo in Western Europe and general manager of the PC vendor's UK operations.
His new title will be country general manager of Lenovo Australia and New Zealand.
In a statement, Lenovo said Munro's time spent managing other markets will "benefit the local team and provide a unique insight into go to market strategy, sales and channel enablement."
