Optus Business and Skyfii expand wi-fi and analytics to Mirvac's shopping centres across Australia

Skyfii and Optus Business have announced an extension of their partnership to deliver guest wi-fi and consumer analytics to Mirvac Property Group.

Following the successful trial on Broadway Shopping Centre in Sydney and Orion Springfield Central in Ipswich, Skyfii and Optus will install the technology at five other Mirvac shopping centres.

New South Wales-based Birkenhead Point Outlet Centre, Rhodes Waterside, and Queensland’s Kawana Shoppingworld, will have the technology working in December 2016. Tramsheds Harold Park has been live with guest wi-fi since September 2016 and will be followed by Victoria’s Moonee Ponds Central in January.

Skyfii’s analytics services work by collecting and analysing data from users who register for guest wi-fi services. The information collected will be used to better target the shopping centres audience with offers and advertisements.

"These insights can have a hugely positive impact on retail complexes and the businesses within them," Wayne Arthur, Skyfii's chief executive officer, said.

"Technology has enabled a new level of competition for bricks and mortar stores through, for example, online shopping giants like Amazon. A combination of guest wi-fi and analytics offers technology that helps them fight back, while also providing better and more contextual experiences for their customers."

The initial contract on all properties is for three years.

"Shopping centre wi-fi provides the personalised content, promotional offers and connectivity to improve the overall customer experience," John Paitaridis, Optus Business' managing director, said.
