The 12 month staff development program is open to new graduates.
Michelle Natoli, human resources manager at NSC, said the Academy is a key part of the company's growth strategy.
“We’ve seen a lot of growth over the last few years at NSC so the program is part of looking ahead trying to plan for the future and also trying to offer more choices and career paths for the young IT graduates,” she said.
Natoli added that while previous cadet programs kept trainees in one area of the business, the new program will see cadets undergoing a year of training across all areas of the business.
Cadets will spend 3 months with a senior supervisor in each technical area including pre-sales, professional services, service desk and field support. They will also undergo training in customer relationship management and business communications and will also achieve Avaya accreditation after completing relevant assesments.
According to Natoli the cadet program has been designed to recognise the unique training needs of graduates and offer them a range of choices in which to specialise once they have completed their cadetship.
"Gen Y do want more choice. They’re quite skilled and ambitious so to be able to give them more choice is very attractive for the Gen Y people,” she said.
NSC will bring in 4 cadets this financial year with plans to double that number
during the next financial year. To help retain staff after the completion of the cadetship NSC is also planning to implement a mentoring program.
