Global VoIP product vendor Audiocodes is hoping to crack the small-to-medium business unified communications market in Australia with what is effectively Lync-in-a-box.
Called One Box 365, the product's selling point is its ease of setup as well as price for businesses from 25 to 200 seats.
Small businesses have previously encountered "roadblocks" with Lync, according to James Nation-Ingle, account executive at Microsoft Gold Partner and One Box 365 reseller Jasco Consulting.
"In the past, there were a number of technical and financial roadblocks for SMB companies that want the benefits of full Microsoft Unified Communications. This will no longer be the case," Nation-Ingle claimed.
By combining the Lync server and session border controller into one device, Audiocodes claims to have reduced the cost of deploying Lync. The company says deployment times are shorter and the product can also come bundled with handsets.
Because of variables like licensing and services costs, Audiocodes was unable to provide CRN with a single price for One Box 365. However a representative did say that the product combines in a single chassis, Lync Server Standard Edition: Front End Server, Mediation Server, Monitoring Server, Active Directory Connector, Edge Server, Gateway/SBC and management applications.
One Box 365 can be deployed in "pure" cloud and hybrid on-premises scenarios, alongside Office 365 deployments.
Audiocodes is no stranger to the UC market, with the Israel-based vendor supplying IP phones, media gateways, session border controllers and other VoIP products. The company has offices in at least 20 countries.
