“Lexmark Choices is an online incentive program we are making available for our reseller partners,” explained Eve Chen, channel marketing manager at Lexmark. “There are two components to the program where you can earn as you go, plus the quarterly and annual prizes.”
Chen said the main difference of the Choices setup is the 2,000 plus prizes on offer with an easy-to-use website to register points.
The points-based program is designed to reward Lexmark’s partners for selling products and services, with the top performers being rewarded with its wide array of accolades.
Lexmark could also not resist throwing its hat into the Green IT circle and were keen to stress the importance of Green making business sense.
“You hear a lot of organisations talking about Green, but we are taking an educational approach to this and making sure we are giving our customers the full picture,” said Stephen Bell, marketing manager at Lexmark Australia.
“There are great cost saving for organisations with Green, but this cannot come at the expense of the business. We focus on the Green issue through four phases: design, packaging, use and end-of-life.”
Bell said in the design process Lexmark meets global standards set around the world, such as the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) guidelines.
“In terms of packaging this is an area often overlooked, but it is still a significant contributor to the Green issue. We use recycled content, less materials and a compact design,” Bell said. “The usage piece is critical too and this is an area where we will be providing a lot of focus.”
Bell said Lexmark’s research shows that over 80 percent of the impact on the environment from printers is from paper. The vendor also found that in an office, 17 percent of documents are wasted.
“We are focusing to ensure this paper wastage is reduced,” Bell added. “In terms of end-of-life, we offer printer and cartridge recycling and materials re-use.”
