The security vendor has only had a local presence since last year, when it opened its Melbourne office.
However, Kaspersky said it had experienced rapid business growth in the Australian and New Zealand market last year and its channel strategy was aimed at widening its footprint.
Australian channel manager Andrew Mamonitis signed on in February but his position was only officially announced in May.
The vendor also recently revealed a major sponsorship of the AFL team the Melbourne Demons and is on the look-out for another senior team member.
The new position is for an anti-virus analyst who would head up the local support team.
"A big chunk" of the job would be PR, said regional PR and marketing manager Povel Torudd.
"Kaspersky is looking for a talking head to map out what's going on in Australia and to comment on something as it happens," said Torudd.
The position won't be filled until late July, when Patricia Kurenkov, head of the head of Kaspersky's global research and analysis team is coming out to conduct interviews.
Kaspersky's three-tier program signs up resellers as accredited, gold or platinum partners and is designed to give more comprehensive technical support and services.
"This program is designed to help our partners increase their revenue and win more customers in the fast growing security software market," said Alexey Gromyko country manager Kaspersky Lab A/NZ
"We have put a significant amount of effort into offering the support and assistance that our partners need in order to be successful," said Mamonitis.
The partner program includes a strong financial incentive initiative, access to technical support and services, a comprehensive training and certification curriculum, and better marketing, skills and selling enablement.
