HP Australia has been awarded a $7.4 million contract with the Department of Education and Training in Victoria.
The contract will see HP desktop computers replace the Dell desktops currently in use by administration staff in Victorian government schools.
"This new contract provides desktop computers for more than 1500 government schools for the next five years," an education department spokesman told CRN.
More than 7000 computers are expected to be delivered. A four-year onsite warranty is also part of the five-year contract, awarded in December 2016.
Paul Gracey, director of personal systems for HP South-Pacific, told CRN that HP had been working closely with the Victorian DET to enable better learning outcomes for students.
“As part of this ongoing relationship, we are thrilled to have been selected by the department to install HP EliteDesk 705 G2 small form factor desktop computers and HP EliteDisplay E240c monitors in Victorian schools," he said.
The contract includes a standing offer agreement that enables schools to purchase additional desktops using school budget.
The department carried out the procurement process in line with the requirements of the whole of government end-user computing (EUC) equipment state purchasing contract (SPC).
The SPC is a closed panel arrangement with seven suppliers. Only two are listed under the desktop category: Acer and HP.
