PagePack is a wholesale managed print services (MPS) program aimed at the small and medium business market. While fixed price cost-per-page agreements have been the norm in the enterprise for many years, implementation issues have hampered their adoption in the SMB market.
PagePack is an attempt by FXP to remove the complexity involved in offering MPS to smaller customers. Under the PagePack model customers are only charged per page printed, regardless of how much toner or other consumables are used.
According to the vendor, once the PagePack software is installed, customers are able to accurately predict their printing costs, reduce or recover these costs and better manage devices.
Tom Lewis, marketing manager at Fuji Xerox Printers, told CRN the PagePack program has been designed to allow resellers to enter the MPS market without a massive investment in software or headcount.
He said the PagePack program will be made available to selected authorised FXP resellers able to target specific verticals and geographic segments.
“We’re actively looking for resellers now," he said. "But we don’t want to commoditise the managed print market. We want to get coverage for the whole market in terms of end-users but we don’t want a saturated market in terms of resellers,” he said.
“We think there’s an opportunity for resellers to capture an ongoing revenue stream which they may not have done previously but also to do that with margin opportunities and without a sting in the tail in terms of customer satisfaction.”
Approved resellers will be able to brand the PagePack portal, set the terms and conditions of supply contracts, and control pricing.
Resellers will retain servicing rights and will also have value-add opportunities around best printing practice consulting and fleet optimisation. FXP will carry the inventory and fulfil customer orders.
