Charles Cote, regional director Fortinet A/NZ said the company has seen enormous growth in demand for its FortiGate appliances over the past two years.
The security vendor plans to recruit additional Australian FortiPartners that are interested in offering security and data protection solutions to businesses.
"After being approached by Ingram in Australia a few months ago, and the success we have experienced in New Zealand and around the Globe, it did make sense to fast track a local relationship and take advantage of their broad distribution model," he said.
"The partnership could not have come at a better time for us."
Fortinet has more than 300 members in its FortiPartner channel program A/NZ.
It wants to add an additional 100 resellers to the program by the end of 2009.
The program gives resellers sales and marketing programs, training and support services and is tiered into Platinum, Gold and Silver levels, based on revenue attainment and training.
As part of the distribution agreement, Ingram will offer the complete range of Fortinet products, focusing on integrated security solutions for small-to-medium businesses.
Fortinet also has distribution relationships with Ingram Micro in New Zealand, the U.S. and APAC.
Jay Miley VP and managing director, Ingram Micro A/NZ said UTM security solutions and managed security services represent a fast-growing revenue opportunity for its reseller partners.
"Fortinet is a market leader in the UTM space, with a unique range of products and services that will enable our resellers to add significant value to the security solutions they offer their customers," he said.
