Former Ingram Micro executive John Walters is consulting to national IT services provider Anittel, while Peter Kazacos has taken over as the firm's new managing director.
Walters was brought in to improve “disappointing” product sales in the first half of the financial year.
Anittel new managing director Peter Kazacos told CRN that he brought in Walters to assist on a review of the company's hardware and software business.
“I’ve known John for many years, he’s very well respected and he understands that business. The regional resellers know him too," Kazacos said.
“We’ve talked about different things and it’s the best time. It will work quite well."
Walters - Ingram Micro's former head of commercial sales and solutions - exited the distributor in December 2009.
Kazacos said he would focus on managed services growth, while Walters focused on the product side of the Anittel business.
Kazacos took over as the managing director of Anittel in addition to his role as chairman following the departure of chief executive Ilkka Tales.
Tales had led the transformation of Anittel last year when it acquired a number of regional IT resellers. Anittel grew from a 20-person business of $6 million revenues 15 months ago to a 190-person company with revenues of $60 million.
Tales remained as a director of the company but in a non-executive capacity.
Up until November, Anittel remained determined to continue buying up resellers before it was forced to reduce its headcount and refocus on organic - rather than acquisitive - growth.
Kazacos didn’t rule out further acquisitions but told CRN that the fall in the share price value following disappointing half year results forced him to react accordingly.
“The growth strategy is based on giving good shareholder value. If you don’t have the right share price, acquisitions are more difficult,” Kazacos said.
“Anittel is now fully geared to capitalise on organic growth opportunities in the coming 12 months."
