Artis Group has opened a new facility to support application development for its government and commercial clients.
Based in Adelaide, the Application Development and Support Centre will house application development for Artis’ Australian clients, with current support transferring to the new centre over time.
State Super Financial Services is one of the first clients to be supported out of the facility, covering its Future Operating Model system.
Others include the South Australian Department of State Development’s Dynamics CRM project, Department of Trade and Investment’s biosecurity solution and the NSW Rural Fire Services’ emergency management technology. More Artis client support will be transferred to the centre over time.
Artis managing director Chris Greatrex said the move to Adelaide was driven by a lower cost of doing business in South Australia, with labour costs between 10 and 20 percent lower than the Australian average.
“When we pitched that support would include our team in Adelaide, [State Super Financial Services] loved it,” said Greatrex. It’s the whole concept of nearshore development. We’re providing an alternative to sending work offshore and showing east coast companies they can get a lower blended rate onshore.”
The South Australian expansion comes a year after Artis bought Adelaide-based services firm Tapestry. The acquisition allowed Artis to take Tapestry’s contract management solution used by the South Australian government to other state and federal governments.
Artis expects the hub to generate around 10 new jobs a year, mainly specialists across Microsoft applications development including .Net Framework, SQL Server, SharePoint, Dynamics CRM.
Artis is a Microsoft Gold and SAP Business ByDesign partner based in Sydney. In 2014, Artis landed a No. 34 spot in the CRN Fast50, growing revenue 27 percent to $10.2 million.
