Sydney-based Aquion has been appointed as the Australian and New Zealand (ANZ) distributor for Java software vendor Azul.
Aquion stated it has been brought on board to offer Azul's solutions to ANZ businesses as an alternative to Oracle Java SE.
It said Azul's solutions help lower Java software licensing and cloud computing costs as well as increase application performance and developer productivity.
The agreement has seen Aquion join Azul's PartnerConnect program.
“This valuable partnership with Azul could not have been more opportune because of the growing concerns of the costs of operating a digital enterprise today,” said Audrey Lyon, head of strategic business development of Aquion.
“With Java underpinning so much of an organisations digital services, by providing stable, trusted, and proven Java solutions we help enable Australian and New Zealand organisations to realise their digitalisation goals and create business impact through innovation.”
Aquion claimed that Azul provides a stable, more secure and compatible Java runtime for typically 70 percent less cost than Oracle.
Additionally, Aquion stated that Azul's Platform Prime enhances Java application performance, latency and consistency of operation, with the capability of reducing cloud costs by up to 20 percent.
“Azul is pleased to partner with Aquion to broaden our distribution and deepen our commitment across the valuable ANZ region. It’s timely as we are currently experiencing our highest volume of channel partner opportunity registrations ever. This is driven by enterprises desperately searching for more cost-efficient Java runtime alternatives to their current provider,” said Dean Vaughan, vice president of Asia Pacific, Azul.
