Melbourne-based AI startup NexusMD has secured A$6.3 million in seed funding, led by Australian venture capital firmSquare Peg.
NexusMD’s enterprise-grade AI agents integrate directly with existing hospital systems and automate end-to-end workflows by ingesting information from diverse sources – processing clinical content and medical information captured through ambient listening and image-based text.
The agents then compile this information into structured clinical notes and accurate clinical coding.
NexusMD technology has already been deployed in three emergency departments across Victoria, where it has been automating tasks, streamlining clinical documentation, providing real-time insights, and improving operational efficiency for the past nine months.
NexusMD has been supported by Austrade and Invest Victoria since its early stages, and with the recent backing of Square Peg’s A$6.3 million seed funding, the company is now scaling its technology across more hospitals and expanding its suite of AI agents beyond the emergency department and into other critical hospital units.
The company has achieved ISO 27001 certification and offers on-premises deployment, ensuring robust data security and compliance.
