ADI Global Distribution Australia, owned by Honeywell Security, offers intruder and fire alarms, access control, and CCTV.
It plans to double its vendors to 200 by the end of 2009, expand its geographic regions and move into other lines of business such as home automation, including LCD monitors and audio systems.
Speaking about the launch, ADI president Tom Polson (pictured) said unlike other major security distributors in Australia, it is not dominated by a single manufacturer.
“Over the course of the next three years, we will quadrauple the number of major brands that we carry," said Polson.
"The major objective is to diversify our portfolio and our geographic region. We are constantly looking for new opportunities.
"The more diverse we can be, the better we can serve our customers and have a better reputation for our sellers,” he added.
The company's vendors include ACTi, BRS, CNB Technology, Dedicated Micros, HID, ioImage, and Milestone.
ADI will continue to distribute products from Honeywell Security but believes it can now offer more products in the security and low voltage arena as an independent manufacturer.
“Resellers are excited about the change because we will carry multi brands. We have had some great customers for many years but if for some reason they couldn’t buy everything from us they couldn’t grow their business because we just carried the Honeywell portfolio,” said John Gellel ADI general manager Australia.
“Now we have become a one stock shop offering multi technology, enabling them to diverse their business which is not normally the case with security products,” he added.
Gellel said the company wants to eventually roll out its Global Partner of Choice programme in the US, in Australia soon and in the meantime will offer incentives to resellers such as pre-programme support and promotional opportunities.
Polson said during his week-long visit from the US he will be asking resellers key questions such as what categories do they specialise in, what’s their level of interest in diversification, what level of competency do they have and do they need any assistance with any programmes or education.
“We want to introduce resellers to new technology and help them to try and install new systems to help their business grow.”
