TDP Communications: Christian White, founder
We started the very first Commander Centre in Australia in 2004. When Commander went into liquidation in 2008 and M2 took them over, we decided to become an Optus Business Centre. Optus decided to delay its activity in rolling out new mobile towers in Tasmania around 2012 so the business became ‘telco-agnostic’, becoming TDP Communications. This lets us give much a better service to our customers, as we can offer a range of products best suited to their needs across multiple providers.
We will sit down and work out solutions for our customers to ensure it is right for their business.
With the NBN and the extra bandwidth, we can offer a lot more. We now have backup-as-a-service across the NBN, hosted PBX-as-a-service, and are rolling out desktop-as-a-service as well, and we still haven’t touched on video and other applications the NBN brings. We’re looking at new products all the time to deliver better solutions to our customers.

Peak Computers: Shane Wiseman, managing director
Peak began in 1988, and I started working there in 2000. I took over in 2012 when the owner retired.
We do break-fix computer repair work, right through to managed services to our business clients. We are predominantly business-to-business and specialise in medical practice and pharmacies, legal and accounting firms. We work alongside customers as if we were their IT department and become ingrained in their business. We are responsible for going in and setting up new systems, integrating and doing all their databases.
We look after a range of clients, from a few hundred seats, right down to mums and dads running the farm with just one or two computers.
We have clients from Hobart through to Queenstown, right along the north, northwest to east coasts. Because we utilise a lot of the new technologies to deliver our services, we can offer remote support anywhere. Distance isn’t really an issue.

The business was established in 1992 in the home retail market. Our main customers are SMEs that want to use technology to achieve outstanding results. Since a change in strategy three years ago, we have focused on increasing internal skills and developing a range of innovative products and services.
We offer a customised service because it’s not a one-size-fits-all approach. We spend significant amounts of time focusing on the client’s business model and how they create value for customers.
Then we assist them with tailored ICT designed to achieve specific business goals, whether they relate to revenue, growth or cost. IT should be more than just a dollar figure on the expense line – it needs to add value.
