Surprise rescue bid for collapsed ASX-listed IT firm

Collapsed ASX-listed company Sirius could receive an injection of funds by accounting firm Pager Partners.

Pager Partners is one of two companies vying to recapitalise the ASX-listed company, which was placed into liquidation with FTI Consulting in August.

Sirius went into administration on 30 August after declaring operating losses of $447,000 and an equity deficiency of $1.6 million in 2012. The Melbourne-based company employed 35 staff.

The company developed asset management systems, particularly aimed at local government.

Administrators expect a Deed of Company Arrangement between Sirius and Pager Partners to be executed sometime today on 31 October 2013, according to a report from FTI Consulting.

Earlier, FTI Consulting had tried to recoup funds by selling clients perpetual licence to one of Sirius' software products, Pinnacle, said the report.

However, it looks as if this plan will not get off the ground, as the Pager Partners recapitalisation deal is contingent on keeping the source code.

FTI Consulting has already carved up and sold off some sections of Sirius' InfoMaster business.

The company's e-services and planning division was sold to solutions company Civica on 1 October, while Open Office purchased its AssetMaster software on 2 October.

Civica, which has offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, took ownership of three InfoMaster applications, some of Sirius' 42 local government clients and five staff members.

Open Office, which is based in Melbourne, appointed "key" AssetMaster staff.

Sirius' other subsidiaries – Sirius budgets, Sirius Finance and Siricle – have been placed into liquidation.

FTI Consulting did not respond to CRN's request for comment.
