Sydney systems integrator grows education footprint
UTAS COO David Clerk, CIO James Murray and IT manager Kevin O’Flaherty with CMSIT team of Angelo Millena, Mat Arentz, Manuel Sopena, and Sangam Sharma

CMS IT has bolstered its share of the education market by winning a contract with the University of Tasmania (UTAS).

The UTAS deal comprises level one onsite support for teachers and almost 1000 students from the schools of Nursing, Midwifery, and Medicine.

The deal comprises UTAS's Sydney campuses in Rozelle and Darlinghurst as well as its St Vincent’s data centre.

It marks the first time CMS IT has worked with UTAS, but builds on the service provider's education experience with Monash University, where it provides managed IT services, including wireless internet for the entire campus.

CMS IT chief executive Angelo Millena declined to comment on how much the contract was worth but said the deal was "medium-sized".

"The extra revenue generated from a client like this will be reinvested into the business and channelled into our innovation development to ensure we continue to work on delivering up-to-date and innovation product and service streams," he said.

"We are also looking to hire additional staff and look forward to our business growth."

CMSIT was named number 10 on the 2011 CRN Fast50.
