David Boncheff, a veteran of the networking scene for decades, has launched a new IT solutions company called ACI Professional Services after his fight with cancer led to him liquidating Able Communications.
Boncheff has been in remission for almost two years.
His past company, IT consulting and services business Able Communications, was placed into liquidation after Boncheff fell ill and struggled to meet obligations.
Boncheff founded the company in Sydney in 1997. Demand in Canberra soon led to him moving there in 2003. Past customers include Optus, Fujitsu, NSW Police and the Department of Defence.
His illness put him out of work for six months in late 2011. "I went out of work for a while and it put me under. I was unable to recover the tax structure," Boncheff told CRN.
Boncheff added that despite the best efforts of channel friends, contracts were not being offered until after Christmas.
"When I finally was ready to go back to work, it was around this time of year. Trying to get work at this time of the year is really tough. Nothing starts up till February or March. Nobody who can sign will take anything on."
He is now firmly focused on ACI Professional Services and the development of a new app called Just Press SOS.
"We're working on a smartphone application based on safety and security environments and first alert systems anywhere in the world. That has an international application behind it.
"That's very exciting and we're working to get some venture capital behind that also."
Able Communications owes around $180,000.
