The NB100 is a low-cost mobile computer aimed at school students or those who want a cheap alternative for secondary hardware.
It features a large touchpad and buttons and can store documents and files.
Matthew Tumminello, product marketing manager at Toshiba ISD, told CRN, customers will purchase the product based on their requirements.
“We believe the NB100 will certainly attract user’s looking in the EEE PC market segment,” he said.
“The Toshiba NB100 will be available through Toshiba’s Authorised Retailers as well as Toshiba channel partners.”
According to Tumminello, the NB100 weighs one kilogram and features an 8.9 inch screen. It comes in a black and aluminium silver case and is pre-loaded with Windows XP Home.
“Its wireless capabilities enable easy connection to wireless hot spots and the internet on the go,” he said.
“The NB100 also has a built-in webcam and microphone to chat with friends and family.”
The mobile computer also comes with a ‘diversity antenna’ – which automatically adjusts signal reception for connectivity to the Internet.
“This minimises drop outs and disruption while online,” said Tumminello.
“It also includes three USB 2.0 sleep and charge ports, allowing users to charge up mobile devices, such as MP3 players, mobile phones, PDAs and game consoles.”
Authorised resellers for the product include; Clive Peeters; David Jones; Dick Smith; Domayne; Good Guys; Harvey Norman; Leading Edge Computers; Myer; Officeworks; Retra Vision; WOW; JB Hi-Fi; and Clive Anthony’s.
Toshiba’s distributors for the product are BMS; Dicker Data; and Ingram Micro.
