TodayTech has signed a contract to distribute Hitachi Global Storage Technologies’ hard disk drives to Australian resellers.
The distributor joins Legend Corporation on Hitachi’s distribution list.
TodayTech would reach a base of 5000 resellers in Australia, selling Hitachi’s range of enterprise and near-line storage (3.5 inch SCSI & SATA drives) and high-growth segments such as notebooks (2.5 inch and 1.8 inch drives), Hitachi said.
Karthik Laxman, regional manager, channels, ANZ/South Asia at Hitachi, said the company had expanded its distribution network here following the opening of a new hard drive manufacturing facility in Shenzhen, China in February.
Laxman said that without this new facility, Hitachi was constrained on supply but was now confident of its ability to supply products to cater for the market demand in Australia.
Laxman spruiked Hitachi’s “Domestic Consolidation Point” capability in Australia, a logistics function that allows resellers and system integrators to send drives for warranty replacement after applying for return maintenance authorisation (RMA) online via Hitachi’s Partners Portal.
Channel partners send faulty drives to a consolidation point in Sydney and logistics company UPS would send a new drive direct to the reseller from Hitachi’s Singapore plant within seven days, Laxman said.
