TAFE NSW seeks partners for network upgrade

TAFE NSW is seeking IT partners to assist with an upgrade of its wired and wireless network infrastructure.

The NSW government-owned vocational education institution has over 500,000 annual enrolments and operates 161 campuses across the state.

Each of TAFE's campuses has wired and wireless network infrastructure which provides connectivity to its digital services.

In a request for tender published on 2 November, TAFE said it is looking for partners to provide enterprise class hardware, software, maintenance and services as part of a five-year project to renew its wired and wireless network.

This will include the replacement of WiFi (wireless) access point and wired ethernet switches at 161 campuses.

Successful partners will be required to deliver:

  • Wireless network access points for internal and external applications, as well as edge and distribution wired network switching infrastructure of various densities and form factors.
  • An enterprise management, monitoring and orchestration platform for both wired and wireless network infrastructures.
  • Vendor software and hardware maintenance for one year plus up to four years ongoing for both wireless and wired network infrastructures.
  • Installation and commissioning services including the configuration, distribution and installation of wired and wireless infrastructure, in addition to disposal of pre-existing wireless infrastructure.
  • Remediation services of pre-existing communications plants at TAFE sites, which may include installation of new CAT6A cabling for wireless access points, structured cabling and terminations, Fibre Interconnects and removal/installation of racking.

The request for tender will close on 13 November 2023.
