Samsung tackles high-end printer market
The SCX-6345N is an A4 multifunction printer designed to manage workflow and provide greater efficiency in an office’s print network. Representing $300 million, with around 70,000 units sold annually, the high-end multifunction printer market is a growth sector - and Samsung is capitalising on it.

“This is the first time we’ve come to market with a mid to high-end printer and we’re going to continue doing some serious engaging with the channel to move forward,” said Anthony Toope, marketing manager IT Division, Samsung Electronics Australia.

Samsung has recently taken a proactive approach to their channel strategy and hired additional staff to concentrate on boosting the vendor’s channel offering. Launched in conjunction with the SCX-6345N was Samsung’s Print Solution Management package for resellers, a Web 2.0 agent that provides full visibility and remote access to a customer’s networked print and copy devices.

“Resellers are more intimate with the customers and more focused on delivering the solution, so we’re dedicated to providing them with the tools and support they need,” said Toope. "We are progressively adding to the channel team and have an increased focus on the channel business market.”

Recent industry discussion around the vulnerability of multifunction printers to external threats prompted the vendor to consider security. The SCX-6345N is safeguarded against spam, viruses and worm attacks.

“Security is always a consideration,” said Toope. “Organisations have the option of management access codes so there is a reasonable level of security from the moment the printer is set up.”
