CRN’s own Jenny Eagle and Mitchell Smith attended the event.

The day kicked off with coffee and doughnuts before an hour-and-a-half long journey to the battlefield outside of central Sydney.

Graeme Reardon, regional director A/NZ at Linksys, greeted the arriving media throng, joining them for a barbecue lunch.

The group then suited up in camouflage overalls, collected their guns and ammo, and split into two platoons, the Bandits and the Snakes, before heading out into the fray.

The first game of Capture the General saw the Bandits digging in behind tree stumps and bushes on an almost vertical hill to defend against the advancing Snake army.

Within seconds of the starting whistle the battlefield exploded with hundreds of tiny balls of paint slicing through the air. Ten minutes of absolute chaos was peppered with battle cries, barked orders and grunts of pain.

Several games of increasing lunacy ensued, ending in the final Last Man Standing tournament that involved point-blank fire in a test of mettle and grit.

Black, bruised but beaming, the two groups reunited to swap war stories, share a few celebratory drinks and begin the long journey back home.
