Local OEM Optima Technology Solutions is underway with phase two of a $2.3 million contract to provide desktops and related services to the NSW Department of Corrective Services (DCS).
The first phase of the contract was completed in May. When the second phase is completed in October/November this year, the OEM would have provided 1700 desktops and 3500 system upgrades across 143 DCS sites.
Optima has been a panel supplier to DCS since 1999 and in January this year was appointed as the sole supplier to the department after Acer Computer was dropped from the panel.
Service capabilities were important in phase two of the tender, according to Optima. The OEM was supplying the department with new systems customised with a pre-installed Windows XP standard operating environment (SOE) and a set of management features.
The company would also remove any old systems and securely dispose of all unit data. DCS is receiving the Optima WorkPro D9S machines that are based on the latest Intel 915G Express chipset and Intel P4 processors.
Optima had a strong foothold in state government with more than 50 percent of its government revenue generated from sales to NSW government departments, according to company boss Cornel Ung.
Ung said the company was on the cusp of announcing another larger NSW government contract that had a larger services requirement.
“From initial presales technical advice and planning, through to procurement, configuration and ongoing technical support, we have a customised service to suit every requirement,” he said.
