Strategic alliance aims to help firms manage complex technology shift with less friction.

Nutanix said it has struck an expanded partnership deal with Amazon Web Services, to help businesses manage their transition to cloud computing.

The collaboration centred on Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) on AWS, a technology enabling firms to extend their existing on-premises computer systems into Amazon's cloud platform without major disruption.

NC2 customer benefits include cost-efficiency with disaster recovery, data centre extension, application migration and modernisations, effortless scaling and flexibility and increased cloud resource efficiency, Nutanix said.

"Ninety per cent of organisations are taking a 'cloud smart' approach to their infrastructure strategy – leveraging the best environment for each of their applications", Tarkan Maner, chief commercial officer at Nutanix said.

Telstra-owned managed service provider Versent's senior director of cloud, Jeremy Currall, said the partnership between Nutanix and AWS enhances his company's ability to provide practical, streamlined hybrid cloud solutions that address its clients’ needs for efficiency, scalability, and security.

"Leveraging NC2 on AWS we can deliver a unified hybrid environment that enables businesses to run their workloads smoothly, both on-premises and in the cloud," Currall said.

"Versent is working closely with Nutanix to support our clients’ transition to the cloud, drive digital transformation, and help reduce costs," he added.

Financial incentives formed a key part of the agreement, with AWS offering credits to help firms test and move their systems.

The deal promises to slash costs typically associated with moving business applications to the cloud, letting companies avoid expensive rebuilding of their software.

Technical benefits included improved disaster recovery options and easier ways to expand computing capacity when needed.

Customers gain access to AWS databases, storage systems, and artificial intelligence services while maintaining consistent security controls across their systems.
