The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has tendered for a new IT services supplier in an attempt to fix problems with its infrastructure.
AMSA wants to upgrade its current infrastructure, particularly in regional offices where the agency has experienced IT problems.
The tender states that improvements must increase availability, reduce single points of failure, provide activity, usage logging and monitor system, performance and capacity.
A representative of the AMSA said it was too early to tell what portion of the tender will go to the channel. The agency does expect IT companies it's dealt with in the past to put in tenders, he said.
AMSA required any upgrades to run with current technology platforms based on Cisco, Citrix, Microsoft, Sun, Oracle, Commvault and EMC products.
The AMSA’s current environment includes: HP Proliant Windows 2000 servers for email, file, print and specialist applications; Oracle databases running on Sun servers; Cisco routers and switches; and HP PCs and Toshiba laptops.
EMC SAN and Commvault backup systems provide data storage and management.
VMWare ESX virtual server platforms are used for development, production and Disaster Recovery Facility (DRF) application deployment.
The RFT closes on May 16 and so far it has received 10 enquiries on the tender.
