Distributor and CRN Impact Awards 2024 winner Ingram Micro said it has improved its operational efficiency at its Eastern Creek warehouse in New South Wales, using solutions from Zebra Technologies.
The 42,000 square metre facility now employs Zebra's intelligent cabinet system, which offers adaptable device storage, software automation and security applications.
Zebra's implementation has significantly reduced time wasted by front-line staff searching for mobile computers, allowing for real-time visibility and better tracking of devices.
"The introduction of Zebra's intelligent cabinets has significantly reduced the combined time spent by our front-line staff in searching for the tools they need to perform their daily tasks," Aaron Kumar, director of operations, Australia and New Zealand, Ingram Micro, said.
Ingram Micro's adoption of Zebra's technology aligns with its "Experience Before Retail" strategy, where the distributor uses solutions in its own operations before offering them to customers.
The company has been enhancing its warehouse operations with various Zebra solutions over the past 15 years, including ultra-rugged mobile touch computers, desktop printers, print engines, tablets, industrial printers, and scanners.
Peter Pollari, regional distribution manager of Australia and New Zealand, Zebra Technologies, pointed to the growing importance of warehouse technology adoption.
"Seven in 10 of warehouse decision-makers in APAC, like Ingram Micro, already have or are planning to automate workflows by 2024, according to Zebra's latest Warehouse Vision Study," Pollari said.
