Huawei is using its partnership with the NRL's Canberra Raiders to raise money for cancer research.
Huawei will give up its normal jersey sponsorship space to have the Raiders players wear a special Tour de Cure logo and "riding to cure cancer" theme this Sunday.
All the clothing worn in the match will be auctioned online afterwards, with Huawei committing a minimum of $10,000 to Bowel Cancer Australia.
Canberra Raiders chief executive Don Furner said this isn't the first time Huawei and the rugby league team have joined forces for a charitable cause.
"We hope to once again raise plenty of money and awareness for Tour de Cure this year and encourage our fans to jump online and bid for their favourite player’s jersey," said Furner.
The Chinese vendor and the football team are also putting on a "Raiders pursuit race" during halftime at Sunday's game at Canberra Stadium.
Four players – Josh McCrone, Bill Tupou, Jeremy Hawkins and Luke Page – will cycle in a three lap pursuit race. Fans can bid to back one of the riders, with the winner's supporter scoring a trip for two to Shanghai.
"I know the boys are very competitive in everything they do and I expect this to be the same on Sunday for this race," said McCrone. "Any way we can help raise money for cancer research is great, but [the race] promises to be a lot of fun and entertaining for the crowd on Sunday."
Both the pre-match auction for the Raiders pursuit race and the post-match auctions for special jerseys can be accessed on allbids.com.au.
Fans physically attending the Sunday match versus Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Canberra Stadium will also have a chance to donate by picking up a "kids awareness pack".
