Express service on time with Intermec CN3

It has chosen Intermec's GPRS enabled CN3 mobile computers to enhance customer service and streamline its drivers' delivery process.

Max Robson, director of IT, Star Track Express said as the business grows it wants to meet the demands of customers who want to track their collections and deliveries online.

He said it wanted to replace manual, handwritten operating procedures with a mobility solution.

"The solution will enhance our customer experience and enable us to improve our existing business processes and increase our levels of productivity and efficiency," said Robson.

Intermec was awarded the contract following a competitive tender process.

"We were looking for a supplier that could demonstrate a proven, robust and scalable technology and one who could deliver a future-proof platform able to be enhanced in order to grow with our business," he said.

Intermec's CN3 device, coupled with SOTI software, will allow staff to automate its entire delivery and collection process so that drivers can scan items in and outside the depot, electronically manifest consignments, collect proof of delivery via 'sign on glass' and accept and pick up jobs in the field.

Blackbay software will transfer the information from the CN3 device to the Star Track Express back office systems. Leopard Systems will deploy the solution.

Robson said it chose Intermec after 'exhaustive supplier tests' and 'independent technical evaluations'.

He said the CN3 will reduce operating costs and the time taken to complete each job.

"The new mobility solution will help to eliminate errors so that deliveries or collections can be made on time and in full," he added.
