Commander selected by SA Govt.

IT&T service giant, Commander Communications has been successful in being selected by the South Australian Government as one of three qualified suppliers of Distributed Computing Support Services (the DCSS Contracts), despite denying it would not in August 2006.

The selection by the Government allows Commander to provide its Volante range of managed and professional services in response to the ICT needs of SA departments and has a projected value of the DCSS Contracts to be in the order of $144 million over the 3-year period.

Adrian Coote, managing director, Commander Communications said the award follows on from Commander’s selection as a supplier to the ‘State of Desktop’ personal computers.

“The SA Government’s selection of Commander as one of three qualified providers is a strong endorsement of the depth, range and maturity of Volante IT services Commander offers.

Under the three-year agreement, Commander will be able to be awarded contracts for services in the following business areas; server management & support services; client management and support services; solution design and advisory services; and service integration services.

The announcement follows the SA Government’s 2003 establishment of the Future ICT Service Arrangements Program. This is responsible for planning and implementing the procurement of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) goods and services on behalf of the State.
