Australian telecommunications provider Vaya has pledged to beat the price of any competing provider.
The company said the offer was open to existing customers as well as new sign-ups, and would last for the entire length of their contract.
The competing service must be advertised with the same voice, text and data inclusion as one of Vaya’s plans, and the offer will appear as credit on the customer’s bill.
Vaya’s entry-level plan starts at $20 for unlimited talk and text and include 1.5GB of data. Its $36 plan also includes unlimited talk and text with 7GB of included data.
Vaya marketing manager Jennifer Snell took aim at the ‘big three’ telcos – Telstra, Optus and Vodafone – saying that flexibility had been taken away from customers.
“We’ve noticed that a lot of mobile service providers out there save their best promotional offers for new customers only, and we don’t think that’s fair to existing customers,” said Snell.
“At Vaya, we think it’s just as important to reward the loyalty of our current subscriber base, which is why our new price beat guarantee is available to everyone.”
She added that customers don’t have to sign up for a 12- or 24-month contract, and can opt for month-to-month billing instead.
“For too long now, the big three have been luring customers into lock-in contracts as a way to hold them hostage. At Vaya, all of our plans are month-to-month, so customers are free to come and go as they see fit.”
Amaysim acquired Vaya in January for $70 million, bringing its 140,000 subscribers on board. Earlier this year, Vaya landed in hot water with Australian Competition and Consumer Commission for misleading customers with additional fees to “unfreeze” their mobile plans.
Vaya offers services over Optus’ 4G network.
