Internet-of-things startup Reekoh is betting that customers and partners will flock to its platform-as-a-service and tools because they simplify enterprise deployments of myriad sensors and networks.
The Brisbane IoT platform vendor doesn’t seek to be yet another dashboard, says founder Dale Rankine. Instead, Reekoh’s strength is it makes sense of all the other business systems an IoT customer already has.
“Reekoh provides an underlying data management platform for handling IoT device security, data ingestion and message routing. On top sits a plug-in architecture for rapid development of modular integrations to all parts of the IoT solution value chain: device, protocol, network, infrastructure, services and applications,” said Rankine, an entrant in this year’s CRN Impact Awards.
“Our Open Plugin Framework has been developed so that new integrations can be built in an Agile method to deliver fast and scalable results. Plug-ins can be distributed through our Marketplace to all Reekoh customers.”
Dubbed a ‘Cool IoT Vendor” by industry analyst Gartner for 2017, Reekoh has an “integration platform approach” to manage IoT data. It provides:
- Multilevel and simultaneous data workflows
- Tools to manage IoT projects with shared components
- Integration through data translation and conversion, filters and logic management, modular and repeatable APIs
- Security best practices
- Advanced deployment through containers
- Rapid data visualisation
Rankine said Reekoh is the only product of its type in the Asia-Pacific “and one of a handful of IoT integration platforms globally”.
“We are 100 percent API-first, with all built-in consoles and interfaces working on our platform API and engine. Every component [is] accessed via the API, so customers [can] use all our capabilities in the most flexible ways.”
He also points to Reekoh’s Open Plugin Framework as an enabler of Agile development practices and requirements such as connectors, data streaming, gateways, storage, and cloud services.
“This has a direct impact on the cost of managing and scaling IoT deployments, and sharing knowledge,” he says.
While customers can code into Reekoh’s platform, its “click-and-connect” visual workflow design tool, Pipeline Studio, speeds development, especially for non-programmers and systems integrators.
Rankine also points to its use of containers and Kubernetes “to secure and deploy across cloud and infrastructure options” as one of the most advanced in the IoT world.
“This not only provides more options for our customers, but opens up new go-to-market opportunities for Reekoh via the numerous cloud vendors and data centre providers looking to manage advanced workloads for their customers.”
Reekoh’s sells direct to likes of government and managed services providers and partners such as systems integrators. Resellers can also onboard through Reekoh’s plug-in Marketplace that “gives them ability to quickly integrate the tools they're already familiar with into an IoT project and use Reekoh for the IoT-specific requirements”.
“These partners act as resellers of the Reekoh platform, also leverage reuseable assets they develop on the platform to help them sell faster into common industry verticals and solution categories.” It has 120 plug-ins, Rankine says.
