Westan has dissolved a three year relationship with Vertical Communications to sign an agreement with Vonexus to distribute its IP-PBX solutions locally.
According to Westan, the distributor was no longer interested in supporting the telephony vendor.
Robert Wellard divisional manager for Westan’s Communications Division, said the company wanted to move on from Vertical and start supporting Vonexus’, a subsidiary of Interactive Intelligence, IP PBX product range.
“We believe Vonexus’ products are more competitive [in] and are [suited] for the SMB market,” he said.
However CRN believes a lack of local support was a leading factor in the breakdown of the relationship.
In local reports, Victor Aghtan has been quoted as stating that the company was finding it hard to obtain local support for Vertical’s products.
Seamus Nash, managing director of Call Processing System (CPS) said with the change in relationship between Westan and Vertical, CPS would now be the sole distributor of Vertical’s products.
“I don’t see any reason for Vertical to have a local office. We are in a mobile era, which means Vertical doesn’t have to offer local support. We are a very strong technical company and that’s what Vertical’s looking for in a partner,” said Nash.
