Security vendor Mandiant launches Australian cloud delivery location

Cyber defence platform vendor Mandiant has launched a cloud-based infrastructure location in Australia to deliver its Automated Defense offering to local customers.

The vendor said the launch would allow customers to keep their most critical data onshore and in line with compliance requirements while using its threat intelligence offerings.

Australia is one of the four countries to launch local locations this week, along with Bahrain, Ireland and Singapore, adding to its existing US location.

Mandiant’s Automated Defence is a software-as-a-service solution that aims to augment the ability of Security Operations Centre (SOC) teams to quickly detect and respond to security threats, using threat intelligence to conduct automated alert investigations.

Automated Defence, part of Mandiant’s Advantage SaaS platform, enables SOC teams to investigate the most significant threats, simplify security operations at scale and unify security data to prioritise and focus resources. It provides a ‘virtual analyst’, using Mandiant’s threat intelligence capability to support in-house security teams.

“We are fully committed to the Australian and New Zealand markets and this announcement provides an opportunity for even more local organisations across a number of sectors to quickly detect and respond to incoming security threats.”

Last month, Mandiant officially completed its sale of cyber threat detection and prevention company FireEye to Symphony Technology Group for US$1.2 billion, combining the business with McAfee Enterprise.

The sale also included the FireEye name, resulting in the company changing its name from FireEye Inc to Mandiant Solutions.

Founded in 2004 by current CEO Kevin Mandia, Mandiant was acquired by FireEye Inc in 2014, with Mandia serving as COO of the combined companies before becoming CEO in 2016.
