ASX-listed MobileActive has reported a launch into the US as part of plans to roll out its mobile content and entertainment offering.
The company reports the potential market for the offering is some 200 million handsets.
According to CEO, Chris Thorpe, with the US only recently launching premium rate SMMS services, the company already had an 18 month lead over US-based competitors.
"Our three years of experience and success in the Australian premium rate SMS market gives us a considerable competitive advantage," he said in an ASX statement.
"With the combination of the US and the Australian markets we will have an addressable consumer base of more than 218 million handsets."
To help deliver the service, MobileActive has partnered with mobile messaging and entertainment provider, Mobile Messenger.
Consumers using the joint service will download their mobile content directly from MobileActive over the internet to their handset.
